oapen.abstract.otherlanguageThis article discusses how the fire brigade has developed over the years to rescue animals. From the first official manuals in 1955 to modern rescue operations, the tools and techniques for rescuing animals, such as horses and livestock, have changed significantly. Innovations like the Sinck device played an important role in rescuing animals from canals and formed the basis for contemporary techniques. Fire brigades now have modern lifting devices and specialized teams to safely assist animals. Training and knowledge sharing about animal behavior and safety during rescue operations have contributed to the professionalization of these rescues. Experienced trainers and fire brigade officials are committed to improving the skills of firefighters and provide specialized instructions on how to best rescue animals in distress. Prevention remains essential, such as installing proper fencing and water troughs to prevent accidents. The fire brigade also collaborates with animal organizations to structurally and effectively organize animal rescues.
