This White Paper comprehensively prepares and presents the status quo of data-driven quality assurance, from data collection in the outpatient and inpatient sectors—using QA documentation, social data, registries, and patient surveys—to the assessment of quality results, and finally, publication and evaluation. Building on this inventory, the White Paper highlights milestones achieved, innovation potential for quality assurance, solutions to existing hurdles, and areas for action. Specifically, the White Paper addresses the following questions: · What are the goals of statutory quality assurance, and are they still relevant? · What has been achieved so far, and what needs for further development exist? · What development prospects are there for data-driven quality assurance in the healthcare system? · What direction should we head so that data-driven quality assurance can contribute to higher-quality healthcare in the future? What ideas and approaches can self-governing bodies or legislators adopt from other healthcare systems, other sectors, or other initiatives and incorporate into German data-driven quality assurance? Finally, quality assurance approaches from other healthcare sectors—e.g., in emergency services and rehabilitation facilities—as well as voluntary initiatives are also examined. The White Paper serves several functions: It is a documentation and a vision for statutory quality assurance in Germany. It is therefore aimed at decision-makers in politics and self-governing bodies, healthcare professionals, researchers, and students. We create visions for sustainable quality assurance.en_US
