    Abstract
The lecture series marks the starting point of media pedagogy as a pedagogical specialization in the degree program for secondary school teachers. It illustrates the manifold challenges for learning and teaching in the media age and is a signal for the increasing recognition of the importance of media in schools, the classroom and further education, as well as in the processes of socialization and lifelong learning. The contributions of established education, media and communication scholars provide insights into the diverse connections between media-related and cultural developments and their relevance to the design, organization and analysis of processes of learning and education.
