Jenseits dieser Dichotomie integrieren André Brodocz und Hagen Schölzel das Exzeptionelle der Pandemie sowie die genuin demokratischen Kontroversen und Entscheidungsprozesse in eine Theorie der »demokratischen Auszeit«. Damit reflektieren sie öffentliche Diskussionen über grundlegende Wertorientierungen und eröffnen Perspektiven für eine Neubegründung der Demokratie im Angesicht ihrer Gefährdungen.
