oapen.abstract.otherlanguageThis chapter reflects on Italian courts from the perspective of scholars in management and organizational studies. After a brief conceptual overview of effectiveness and efficiency in courts, two organizational configurations from empirical research are proposed, illustrating various approaches to designing the organizational structure and UPP within Italian courts. The theme of effectiveness and efficiency is presented through a dynamic approach to design, addressing both individual and collective dimensions of the organization. The chapter concludes by addressing key aspects of court organization, focusing on coordination and micro-design. Solutions derived from empirical research are then presented concerning these aspects.
