oapen.abstract.otherlanguageThe purpose of this introduction is to explore some of the many themes examined in the various contributions contained in the 'ancient part' of this collection, firstly by intertwining the concepts of work and leisure with the question of human happiness. First of all, In ancient thought, among the ingredients of happiness, there is not certainly the 'work'. On the other hand, as it emerges in various ways in the various essays, the notion of work should not be understood in the Ancients in a unilateral way, just as the couples ἀσχολία/negotium and σχολή/otium should be declined in the plural.
