        Abstract
In the first part, the article deals with the tradition of International history in the corse held at “Cesare Alfieri”. It recalls how International history has been present in the teaching programs at “Cesare Alfieri” since the birth of the Institute and underlines the evolution of the discipline with a focus on the changes occurred after the Second World War. In the second part, the article deals with the institution at “Cesare Alfieri” of both the first Italian course of International relations, in the academic year 1968-1969, and of the first course of Strategic studies, in the academic year 1985-1986. Then the article describes the contribution given by the Florentine School to the development of this field of international studies in Italy.
