        Abstract
Health and education are fundamental rights which, when referring to children forced to prolonged or repeated hospitalizations, are difficult to guarantee simultaneously. In such cases, school attendance must necessarily be suspended. The Hospital School service, originally established for ensuring the right to education even during illness, has over the years proven to be a crucial resource for safeguarding children's well-being and supporting their prospects. For these reasons, the Hospital School is now considered an integral part of the care pathway. It involves not only young patients and hospital teachers, but also their families and professionals with expertise drawn from diverse disciplinary fields. The research not only highlights the various forms and meanings attributed to the Hospital School in the different pediatric facilities involved in the study, but also aims to emphasize the spaces of agency of the child-as-student-as-patient.
