        Abstract
Action research, involving researchers, companies and civil society actors, directly questions the methods of knowledge production in a perspective of social transformation. This epistemological and methodological choice combines a scientific problem, a social demand and a subjective commitment. The researcher's posture is complicated by the junction of multiple spheres of activity, with one foot in research and one foot in action. By looking back at the issues arising from their experiences and the opportunities and constraints of their approaches, the authors provide a striking overview of the characteristics of research work in action research. One of the interests of this book resides in the perspective of diversified disciplinary approaches of the human and social sciences. The book thus contributes to deepening knowledge about these research practices, by demonstrating the challenge of their institutional recognition and the need for pluralism in the production of knowledge.
