    Abstract
This volume provides an overview of the state of NS research in musicology in German-speaking countries. Founded in 1963, the Graz University of the Arts is a comparatively young institution. However, influential decision-makers and numerous members of the Graz Academy of Music and its predecessor institution, the Styrian State Conservatory, also held important positions in the Nazi music education system. This volume aims to encourage deeper reflection and further research into this dark chapter of history and to initiate critical self-reflection aimed at the future and taking into account the responsibility of universities for the social culture of remembrance and the development of guiding principles. The individual volumes in the FOKUS MUSIK series highlight the intersections between science and art, research and the (re)productive practice of music, each with a different focus.
