Abstract

The anthology collects cutting-edge essays on contemporary LGBTQ+ issues in Japan. By discussing political and cultural representations of and by sexual minorities in Japan after 2000, it offers novel perspectives and sheds light on recent problems and challenges. The volume bridges a scientific gap by an interdisciplinary approach including perspectives from the social sciences, cultural and media studies, history, law, and gender research.
