This is the first study on the role played by Polish mayors in the German-occupied General Government. How did they work with the occupiers? How did they behave in relation to the persecution of the Jews? And how did they administer their towns? This volume finds answers to these questions by looking at twelve selected mayors and combining micro-historical and collective-biographical approaches.
