    Abstract
    Mit einer „einfachen Composition“ vertonte der Organist an St. Nicola in Oberndorf, Franz Xaver Gruber, am Heiligen Abend des Jahres 1818 ein Gedicht des Kooperators Joseph Mohr. So entstand mit Stille Nacht ein Lied, das heute über alle Kontinente verbreitet ist. Eine Fülle von Texten und Filmen schildert seine Entstehung und die ebenso überraschende wie einmalige Rezeption des Liedes. Doch aus welchen mentalitäts- und religionsgeschichtlichen, musik-, literatur- und kunsthistorischen Entwicklungen heraus Stille Nacht getextet und komponiert wurde – danach wurde bisher nur selten gefragt. Im vorliegenden Band wird das ‚Weltweihnachtslied‘ zum Gegenstand einer Spurenlese, die seiner Streuung anhand des Wandels von traditionell verankerten Konstanten und wirkmächtigen Impulsen nachgeht.

    Export search results
